Hi All!
We are excited to welcome you to the first edition of Undiscovered, a newsletter with exclusive resources and insights from the material found on our main site - becketu.com.
The content you can expect will be a mixture of what we find in regards to math, physics, computers, microeconomics, game theory, and persuasion. There may be other items included occasionally that our readers find interesting - but our main focus will be those subjects and providing you maximum value in the shortest amount of time. Here is a taste of what to expect going forward:
In this video, Sal Khan, founder and CEO of Khan Academy, discusses how artificial intelligence could spark the greatest positive transformation education has ever seen. He outlines how each student could have an AI tutor and every teacher could have an AI teaching assistant. There are demos and examples of using this on his site, Khan Academy. This is an exciting prospect, and we especially see its use in subjects that involve math.
In this tweet (or 'post' now), Nick Dobos gives his review for Meng To's Design Code courses & tutorials. In To's website, you will learn design and code by building real apps with React and Swift. Examples of courses include: Design and Prototype for ios17 in Figma, Build SwiftUI Apps for iOS 17, UI Design for iOS, Android, and Web in Sketch, and more.
Grant (@granawkins on X) had come up with the idea for, 'a dictionary, but it shows you position in embedding space relative to some synonyms/antonyms instead of a definition'. Interesting to see the closeness of words you may not naturally associate in 3d fields, such as 'life' to 'day', 'death' to 'night', and more. This is what was created. What other creative coding ideas could be out there?
From The Network State, authored by Balaji Srinivasan: A network state is a highly aligned online community with a capacity for collective action that crowdfunds territory around the world and eventually gains diplomatic recognition from pre-existing states. The big difference is starting with the minds of the network rather than the land, and we may see this come into play more as beliefs start to become nuanced and traditional nation states evolve.
A website that shows you the amount of Bitcoin you could have bought instead of other items at a certain date. For example, if I bought $13 worth of Bitcoin on May 4, 2012 instead of a $13 ticket to see Avengers, I would have $79,555 (or 2.58 Bitcoin). Will certainly make you think twice about whatever commodities you buy today.
We appreciate any feedback you are able to provide here. What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Feel free to reach out to us on Instagram and give us a follow there, tag your friends on our posts, and please forward this newsletter along to anyone else who would enjoy it.
Always wishing you the best,
JB
