#035: Yapping All The Way to Success, Learning How to Learn, Grad SZN AdviceHi All! We are pleased to welcome you to this week's edition of Undiscovered, a newsletter with exclusive resources and insights expanding from the material found on our main site - becketu.com. This week, we take a look at how 'yapping' can make you successful in sales (i.e. persuasion), learning how to learn, and what recent graduates should remember as they start their careers. Let's dive in: Learning How to Learn"What's the most important skill I should know?" "Won't this be obsolete in a few years?" "How do I make sure what I'm doing will still be relevant in the future? The most important skill you can have, is the ability to learn. If you are able to consistently learn, you will always be able to make a living and find new interesting hobbies to find life fulfillment. This is why I was ecstatic to come across Learn How to Learn by @dnbt777 on Twitter. The website above is fantastic and an early-stage work in progress. The idea behind the site is to look at learning through the lens of positive feedback loops. It contains articles like, 'How to Build Anything Extremely Quickly' and 'How I Cured My Procrastination'. And my favorite tweet was how he described 'how to learn by building, from 0 to cracked':
Resources for Machine Learning & Computer ScienceWe already have a plethora of computer resources, but that doesn't stop us from adding more! Especially when they are formatted as nicely as @LudwigABAP does on their blog. Want to learn how computers work? Or maybe about how they intersect with programming languages? Are you curious about how math is used by programmers, or how to code with GPUs? You can find all of Ludwig's recommendations for CS here. But let's say you just want to understand how machine learning (ML) works, or you want to learn more about Large Language Models (LLMs), and understand what's going on beneath the hood of the future of the internet. Then you can find all of the recommendations for ML here. Ludwig also has a ton of personal bookmarks related to CS and ML you can find here. Top Resources for Self Guided Math LearningWe came came across this tweet and couldn't resist looking at the recommendations that gathered beneath it:
These are mostly meant for younger students, but they can be used for any age group looking to refresh their math skills. The following were the most upvoted responses: Math Academy, Mentava, Synthesis, Math Tango, Beast Academy, Prodigy, Khan Academy, and the Art of Problem Solving. Some of the sites are in different stages of development, but these are all worth keeping an eye on. Yapping All the Way to Sales SuccessI came across this video on Twitter, as a repost from one of my favorite follows, @coldhealing. The video is repost of an original piece of content found on TikTok from the user Shelby Sapp, or @diaryofad2saleswoman. You should watch the video itself, but the premise is this: she loves to talk, and encourages other people who love to talk to get into sales (hint: everything is sales). In her words, "people love buying from yappers, like nobody wants to buy from a boring salesperson...I yap. I close deals...People love buying from me because I'm their best friend by the end of the call". Persuasion takes on many different forms, and 'sales', doesn't have to be hard. If you're interested in learning more, here are seven quick and useful sales tips I found from Blake Emal that supplement our favorite yapper nicely. Congratulations to All the Grads Out ThereIt's grad season y'all, and what better way to end this week's edition than with a list of some solid early-career advice from @kaseyklimes. Like most of our featured items, this list can be interpreted for any stage of life and is not exclusive for recent graduates:
